The Burnt Past: The Story

Once upon a time, centuries ago, the tyranny of the immortal lords of magic ended. After an age of twisted excesses, the dread empire that conquered the world collapsed. The great and terrible creations wrought by advanced magics were destroyed along with the knowledge to restore them. Even still, the lords of magic wander the dark threshold of oblivion and seek a way to return once more.
Settlements that have slowly sprung up from the ashes of the past remain wary of it. Each year they reaffirm their conviction to keep the lords of magic away. They say magical knowledge must never again be touched. But among the horrors there were also wonders. How true are those old stories? Forbidden knowledge or not, Kana seeks to explore the unwelcome magical talent that comes so naturally to her.
